Analyzing the formation process of sociability and vitality of passages in the urban landscape

The role of urban crossings in giving identity to the public areas of cities is of great importance and paying attention to them in the urban landscape is considered important. The more attention is paid to urban pedestrian crossings and flows, the more the presence of citizens in them is stabilized and the survival of their dynamism and vitality is more stable. Paying attention to the creation of interactive spaces in order to achieve sociability, in addition to the liveliness of cities, improves the cultural, spiritual and behavioral dimensions of citizens and affects their social aspects and solidarity. The main question of the research states whether the presence of citizens in inner-city spaces can increase the vitality of urban pedestrian crossings. In this regard, it is assumed that achieving the creation of sociability grounds within the context of urban spaces is effective in the emergence of vitality in pedestrian areas and is the reason for the development of the quality of spaces in order to improve dynamism and satisfy citizens. For this reason, the aim of the current research is to analyze the formation process of sociability and vitality of urban passages. For this purpose, Sepeh Street in Qazvin, which is an example of the first passages formed in Iran, was explored. The research method in this study is descriptive-analytical. Written documents, field research and objective observations were used to obtain the theoretical foundations of research and qualitative analysis. The results of the research state that the physical, perceptual and visual criteria are among the important components in urban spaces and their provision in the pedestrian crossings of the street walls cause the presence of the audience in the space and provide the means to improve social interactions, therefore sociable spaces are inviting The height and motivation of citizens to be in the spaces increase the vitality in urban environments.
