Examining the role of urban management of municipalities on urban sustainability (case study of Qazvin city)

The increase in the transfer of population from rural areas to urban areas, as well as the ability of society to adapt to changes, have raised serious questions and experts are trying to answer the challenges in the best way. Despite a long and public debate about the disadvantages that urbanization can create, cities are thriving and this fact is inevitable. A developed metropolis plays an important role as a development center and economic engine. But this only happens if urban planning and management is done very well. In order to achieve this, local government must be centralized and have well-trained staff, appropriate policies and adequate funding options. And it requires new management. Management means planning, organizing, monitoring and creating motivation. Urban management must carry out plans for the city, organize urban activities and supervise the activities carried out and even motivate to do things optimally. In general, city management as a subset Local government is defined and called municipality. The characteristics and structure of municipalities are different in countries, and each society has its own definition of urban management according to its economic, social and political structure. This research was conducted on the role of urban management of municipalities on the urban sustainability of Qazvin city. This research is survey and applied. The method of collecting information is in the field and the tool of collecting information is in the form of a questionnaire. In this research, indicators were first identified and hypotheses were formulated based on these indicators, and finally, all hypotheses were tested using statistical techniques. Proposed and proved. Hypotheses in the form of educating citizens - promoting citizen participation - decentralization - creating integrated urban management were presented and the impact of all these indicators was proven.
